Steve Pinsent

We have learned, with regret, of the death of Steve Pinsent, who was the University's Fire Safety Officer from 2008 to 2017.

Steve's colleagues, John Scott and Dr David Widdowson, write:

Steve served with West Yorkshire, Wiltshire, Surrey and then Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service where he was a Divisional Officer, before joining the University of Leicester Safety Services Office in 2008. He brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience of all aspects of fire safety allied with an affable and approachable personality which enabled him to settle quickly into the University environment, despite what must have been a bit of a culture shock!

He had a passion for the job and was always trying to find practical and proportionate solutions to any problems. Steve was a valued member of the Safety Services Office and continued his friendships with staff, both past and present, after his retirement in 2017. We will miss him.
