We know that parents, carers and family members have a key role in providing support for students applying to, and studying at, university. We recognise that when a member of your family goes to university, you want to know that they are safe, happy and that there will be support and advice available, should they need it.
As a leading university (The Guardian Top 30 Universities 2021) we are committed to ensuring our students benefit from a high quality of teaching, course satisfaction, and employability after their studies and look forward to helping students reach their full potential.

The University of Leicester was founded in 1921 and was awarded full university status in 1957. It was created as a living memorial for all local people who made sacrifices during the First World War. This is reflected in the University's motto Ut vitam habeant – 'so that they may have life'. The University has a fascinating history, as a leading higher education institution, as a collection of architecturally fascinating buildings and as a community of scholars, teachers and researchers. Did you know that Sir David Attenborough grew up on our campus?
Every new first year student is guaranteed an offer of University-managed accommodation if they apply before 1 September. They can choose between The Village, modern halls of residence and unique vintage properties surrounded by trees and lawns; or The City, state-of-the-art student accommodation right next to campus. A wide range of room types and prices are available at both sites, including adapted rooms for those students who require them.
From the moment a student arrives until the day they graduate, all our student support services are available to ensure they get the most out of their time at Leicester. From academic support to counselling, from finance to health, our students can rely on the full range of support throughout their time at Leicester.
From the moment a student arrives at the University of Leicester, we want to ensure they have everything they need for their future career. Not just a degree, but also the skills, knowledge, experience and confidence to make their mark wherever they go next. They might have their future all planned out in detail, or they might currently have no definite idea where they want to go after they graduate. Whatever their plans, and however those plans change, our Career Development Service will work with the student, providing them with personalised, dedicated advice, support and guidance that meets their requirements.
