Public engagement
Public engagement
The National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement defines public engagement thus:
"Public engagement describes the myriad of ways in which the activity and benefits of higher education and research can be shared with the public. Engagement is by definition a two-way process, involving interaction and listening, with the goal of generating mutual benefit."
The University of Leicester was founded by the communities of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland for the benefit of the local community and as a living memorial to honour those who made sacrifices during the Great War. This proud tradition of working with communities - local, national and international - and using higher education as a force for good is at the core of who we are. We believe that together we are stronger.
