From climatic changes to shifting tectonic plates, our planet is constantly reshaping itself. By studying the science behind physical geography, you can better tackle the challenges that lie ahead. While this degree allows you to specialise in physical geography, you'll have the option to learn about human geography too.
Course description
Course description
This degree is perfect for you if you want to do a mix of human and physical geography in Year 1, specialising in physical geography as you progress through the programme. In Years 2 and 3 we offer a range of modules that cover such topics as river dynamics, deserts and climate change. The degree includes UK residential fieldwork in Years 1 and 2, going to Devon, Dartmoor and the Lake District and in Year 2 we take you to Almeria (Spain) to explore Europe's only desert. There are options for further fieldwork around the world in Year 3. Throughout your degree you will gain skills in remote sensing, geographical information science and various statistical and data presentation methods.
If at the end of Year 1 you want to do more human geography (and your grades are sufficient), you can transfer in Year 2 to the BA degree, which is more focused on the social science aspects of the subject.
