Life in halls

Coming to Leicester to study might be your first time living away from home. We hope you have a happy and memorable time whilst staying in our accommodation. Our halls of residence provide a comfortable, safe and welcoming environment that makes settling into university life so much easier.

It’s really important to us that you feel at home during your time here. From the moment you arrive, our teams will be around to help you collect your key, meet new people and get settled in. This is what makes living in halls different from living in a shared house or private accommodation.

Residential Advisers

Our team of Residential Advisers or ‘RAs’ are current students who will help you settle in to your accommodation, be a friendly face throughout your stay, and promote a sense of community. They are also responsible for organising social events to make sure that you feel at home and make friends.

There’s no need to be worried about making friends when you live in halls, there are so many events for you to get involved in to help you get to know your neighbours and meet new people. Regular events range from film nights, quizzes and coffee nights, and we also host annual events such as Oadby’s Got Talent and the End of Year Ball – there really is something for everyone to enjoy.

Study space

We have study space to cater for all learning styles – whether you prefer quiet space for some solitary reading, or somewhere to get together with a group of coursemates to work on a project, or just as an alternative to studying in the library, you’ll find it.

Social space

Living in halls extends far beyond your corridor or block. We have spaces where you can get together and socialise with people from across halls. From playing pool and watching films in the cinema room, to rehearsing in the music rooms and relaxing on the sofas, there’s plenty to do.

Health and wellbeing

After a long day on campus you’ll want your gym to be close by. Both Oadby Student Village and City Living have a University gym just a stone’s throw away, meaning it’s easy to fit your exercise regime around your course and social activities.

The University’s Security Team and Residence Life Team keep our halls safe and secure. Our 24-hour receptions mean there is always someone to call if you need to.
