During Vacation Periods

Using other libraries

  • University of Leicester students and staff can access other libraries across the UK and Ireland. We recommend applying for membership at least 5 working days before the host library closes to ensure that staff have time to process the application.

Your library loans

Before leaving for vacation, please:

  • Return any books you have on loan that you no longer need.
  • Cancel any book reservations you no longer need. You can do this on Library Search or Library staff can help with this. You can contact us by email, by calling 0116 252 2448 or by visiting the Information Hub.

Library books and other loanable items are not be due back on Bank Holidays or University closure days, but may be due back during vacation periods. Books on loan may be requested by other users, and therefore subject to recall, a new due date notification email will be sent.

Loanable laptops borrowed from the Library must not be taken out of the United Kingdom.

On the 2nd of each month we email library users with a monthly account statement, detailing any items on loan and their due date. Additionally users can, at anytime, check their Library Account to see this information.

Staffed Services
