Using other libraries

Staff and students at the University can access other libraries across the UK and Ireland.

SCONUL Access

Students and staff may apply to use other university libraries in the UK via the SCONUL Access Scheme.

SCONUL Summer Vacation Access

Leicester students will normally be allowed to visit other university libraries for reference use during the summer vacation, under the terms of the SCONUL Summer Vacation Access scheme.

University Hospitals of Leicester

The UHL Libraries and Information Services is open to medical students at the University, and any student on a placement at UHL NHS Trust.

The British Library

The British Library will issue a reader pass to allow access to their reading rooms in the St Pancras Library in London, or at Boston Spa in Yorkshire.

General guidance when using other libraries

  • Check the library access requirements and opening hours before visiting
  • Always carry your University ID
  • Set up your Eduroam account (roaming Wi-Fi) in advance
  • Observe the rules and regulations of any libraries visited
