Information Hub at a glance
The Information Hub can help with library and student enquiries, and signposting to services in the Library and across the University. This page gives a brief overview of the variety of services we offer to the following groups:
University Students
The Information Hub, is here to support students throughout their time at the University from registration to graduation.
Library users
We also provide library services to University students and staff, Alumni, Staff and Students at other Universities (via the SCONUL Scheme), College Students and Members of the Public.
Our Services and Support
In addition to the areas mentioned below, if you need help, or have a question and you are not sure who to ask, then you are welcome to speak to the team at the Information Hub.
General enquiries
We respond to and resolve a wide range of enquiries. When necessary we triage to other teams in the library, or to teams across the University. We also respond to initial feedback and complaints on the Library and its services.
Library environment and study spaces
We manage the library environment and spaces in liaison with our colleagues in Estates and Campus Services and Security. During staffed hours we also respond to noise complaints and our Text and Tell us service.
Library membership
We process membership application forms and produce membership cards for external users, including staff and students from other universities, Alumni, College Students and members of the public.
Library resources
We ensure that Library stock is shelved and tidy. We help library users manage their library accounts and locate library resources. We manage the loanable laptop service and the Distance Learning postal loan service. We also handle library fees, fines and invoicing for overdue and lost library stock.
Student personal information
We can help with updating personal information on the student records system, including name changes.
Student documentation and ID cards
- For current students a wide range of letters are available on MyStudentRecord. We produce new and replacement ID Cards.
- For Alumni we can produce various awarding documentation.
Student registration
We respond to general enquiries and register students including completing Visa Checkpoints and ID Checks throughout the year. We support all registration events.
Student graduation
We respond to general enquiries and support during the graduation ceremonies.
Student verification
In line with GDPR legislation we can verify a student status, for example by providing academic references via HEDD, completing Railcard forms and offering advice on other ad hoc forms.
Triaging and Signposting
We hope the above information gives you a taste of the help available from the Information Hub. In addition to this we also signpost to teams across the University. The main teams we signpost to are:
