Borrowing laptops
The Library has a range of laptops available for current University of Leicester students to borrow.
- Laptops borrowed from the Library must not be taken out of the United Kingdom.
- Charges are payable on overdue, damaged or lost laptops, details of which can be found on the Fees and charges page.
Four hour loan laptops
The 4 hours loan laptops can be used anywhere on the University of Leicester campus but will not work outside of this area, this includes the Halls of Residence and College Court.
Theses laptops are available from the laptop lockers on the ground floor of the Library.
- You will need your University ID card to access the lockers.
- These laptop will be issued to your account for 4 hours.
Chargers are not issued with the laptop but the device will stay charged for the duration of your 4 hour loan.
Prior to returning the laptop you will need to ensure you have logged out of the device, and you have connected the laptop to the cabinet by plugging in the cable in the drawer.
These laptops are available on a first come, first serve basis.
Twenty-eight day and forty-eight hour loan laptops
The 48 hour and 28 day loan laptops can be used on and off campus.
Both 48 hour and 28 day laptops are collected and loaned from the Information Hub on the ground floor of the David Wilson Library.
- You will need your University ID card to borrow these laptops.
- Once borrowed you will need to set up security encryption on the laptop before leaving the Library.
These laptops are imaged with the standard student PC set-up, and may be requested via Library Search. You will receive an email notification from the Library when it is ready for collection.
All laptops are issued in a laptop bags that also include a charger.
Prior to returning these laptops you should ensure that you have synchronised your files and reset the BitLocker, as on return it will be wiped ready for the next person to borrow. Instructions are provided with each laptop.
These laptops are in high demand and are therefore subject to availability.
