The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is the main funding body for engineering and physical sciences research in the UK.
EPSRC covers a vast range of fields from healthcare technologies to structural engineering, manufacturing to mathematics, advanced materials to chemistry. It is part of UK Research and Innovation, which works in partnership with universities, research organisations, businesses, charities, and government to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish.
University of Leicester has a number of projects that will be considered for EPSRC funding.

The funding is open to UK applicants only and provides:
- 4 Year UK fee waiver
- 4 Year stipend at UKRI rates ( for 2205/6 this will be £20,780 pa. 2026/7 rates to be confirmed)
- RTSG is available

Applicants must have (or expect to obtain) at least the equivalent of a UK first or upper second-class degree in a relevant/related subject, or overseas equivalent.The University of Leicester English language requirements apply.

With your application, please include:
- CV
- Personal statement explaining your interest in the project, your experience and why we should consider you
- Degree certificates and transcripts of study already completed and if possible transcript to date of study currently being undertaken
- Evidence of English language proficiency if applicable
- In the reference section please enter the contact details of your two academic referees in the boxes provided or upload letters of reference if already available. Referees cannot be anyone on the project supervisory Team.
- In the funding section please specify EPSRC DLA
- In the proposal section please provide the name of the supervisor, academic department and project title in the space provided (a proposal is not required)
