Botanic Garden and Attenborough Arboretum
Orienteering
Suitable for Years 3-6
In the introduction, children explore different methods of direction. They learn how to use a map and the eight points of a compass.
Small groups will use a compass and a map to find mini-beast stampers around the Botanic Garden. Each area is in a habitat where that animal could live.
Children will complete a worksheet to collect the stampers, consider what they can see at different points of the compass, and find other features in the Botanic Garden to label a map.
