Chin Han Yap

The University has learned with sadness of the death of one of our students, Chin Han H Yap, known to everyone as Chin.

Chin joined the University of Leicester family in 2018, and was in the process of completing his degree for a BEng in Engineering, and expected to receive an award of a 2:1.

We as a community are deeply saddened by Chin's passing.

Students from his group project described Chin as “a hard working team member, diligent and someone who fully contributed to the team effort.”

Chin had been fully engaged in tutorial meetings to discuss his progress and provide constructive comments to his peers. His academic studies went well and he had shown self-motivation to transfer his degree from BEng to MEng. He was a loving student, who was liked by his fellow students.

Chin was a polite, hard-working and well-mannered young man, with his whole career ahead of him. Our sincerest sympathies and thoughts are with his family at this time.
