Tuition fees for undergraduate students

Home students

For home undergraduate entrants in the 2026/27 academic year, tuition fees are £9,790 (subject to Parliamentary approval).

We recommend you check your fee in advance of arriving by referring to your offer letter or your course page.

For the 2027/28 academic year, the Home UK tuition fee is expected to be £10,050, subject to Parliamentary approval. In October 2025, the UK Government announced its intention to continue to increase tuition fees. Further increases are anticipated to be implemented automatically through legislation, which may also allow for additional annual adjustments in the future. Consequently, it is likely that your tuition fees will rise for each subsequent year of your studies.

Home students taking a foundation year

Students starting a foundation year in 2026/27 will be charged either £9,790 for the first year or £5,760 (classroom-based subjects) for the first year. Tuition fees for subsequent years of study will be charged at the higher rate and may be subject to increases, usually alongside inflation. To check which fee applies, please refer to your offer letter or course page.

Students from the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man in 2026/27

A tuition fee of £9,790 will apply to students from these islands.

Students on a placement year/industrial placement or studying abroad as part of their course

The following figures indicate the tuition fees for a placement or industrial placement year undertaken in 2026/27. Placement fees are charged as a proportion of the full tuition fee for the programme you are enrolled on during your placement year. Fees for future years may increase annually in line with inflation (RPIX).

Placement/industrial placement for 2026/27

How to pay as a home student

Applying for a tuition fee loan

If you are eligible and wish to receive a tuition fee loan, you should apply for a funding package from Student Finance.

For more information and to apply

Confirmation and payment of your tuition fee loan

The tuition fee loan is paid directly to the University. If you apply on time, the University should receive confirmation from the Student Loans Company (SLC) before your arrival.

Maintenance loan or grant

If you are eligible, maintenance support will be paid directly into your bank account, usually around five days after your course start date. This follows the University confirming your registration and attendance.

If you haven’t received confirmation when you register

Don’t worry — you will be given temporary registration for up to six weeks while waiting for confirmation from Student Finance.

NHS-funded courses

If you are funded by the NHS, a bursary, or a sponsor, it remains your responsibility to ensure your tuition fees are paid. If payment is not received, you will be liable.

International students

The tuition fee you pay in your first year (excluding foundation programmes) will remain the same for each year of your course, provided you stay on the same programme. If you transfer to a different course, you may be charged the tuition fee rate that applies to that new course in subsequent years.

We recommend you check your fee in advance of arriving by referring to your offer letter or your course page.
