Call launched for poster and abstract submissions for international empathy symposium
A call has gone out for professionals working in empathic healthcare to provide poster, abstract and workshop submissions for a ground-breaking international symposium.
The Global Empathy in Healthcare Network Symposium: ‘Rehumanising Healthcare in a Divided World’ will attract healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, and advocates from around the world to Leicester in September.
Professionals have until Saturday, 16 March, to submit abstract and poster submissions relating to the themes of Teaching, Research, and/or Policy.
There is also an opportunity to submit proposals for interactive educational workshops covering topics such as research methods, teaching techniques, policy and practice issues, or other areas requiring skill development.
Professor Jeremy Howick, director of the Stoneygate Centre for Empathic Healthcare, based at the University of Leicester, which is a founding member of the Global Empathy in Healthcare Network, said: “This symposium comes at a crucial time because there is a growing body of evidence that shows empathy in healthcare improves patient outcomes and helps healthcare professionals to cope with the pressures of fast-paced healthcare systems.
“Through keynote presentations, workshops, and collaborative discussions, symposium attendees will explore practical strategies for integrating empathy into digital platforms, overcoming barriers to human connection, and addressing the challenges posed by an often impersonal, tech-driven healthcare environment.
“We’ve now opened calls for submissions for posters, abstracts and workshops which provide meaningful insights and implications for empathic healthcare. This is a great opportunity for professionals to develop an international reputation and further promote education around empathic healthcare. It is also likely to lead to future opportunities for collaboration.”
The Global Empathy in Healthcare Network Symposium will be held on Monday, 15 September and Tuesday, 16 September, at College Court Conference Centre and Hotel in Leicester.
