Students in the School of Geography, Geology and the Environment are very happy! This degree programme involves a mix of human and physical geography in Year 1. In Years 2 and 3 you specialise in human geography studying topics that include environmental and resource sustainability, social justice and activism, migration, critical geopolitics and gentrification.

Human Geography BA (with optional year abroad or year in industry)

If you study this degree you will take no physical geography modules. Remaining credits are made up with additional modules taken outside of the geography teaching programme in subjects such as Sociology, International Relations and Modern Languages. In Years 2 and 3 you can focus on particular areas of geography that fascinate you, such as global migration, environmental challenges and gentrification.

Geography BSc (with optional year abroad or year in industry)

This degree programme involves a mix of physical and human geography in Year 1. In Years 2 and 3 you specialise in physical geography studying landscape processes, biogeography and climate change focussing on some of the most fascinating environments around the world.

Environmental Science BSc (with optional year abroad or year in industry)

This degree provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the Earth, its living systems, and the complexity of environmental-societal interactions. As an Environmental Scientist, you will investigate the most pressing global and environmental challenges of our time. You will study a diverse range of topics, delivered by staff from Geography, Geoscience and Biological Sciences. Key topics include climate change, conservation, ecology, sustainable development and natural resources. You will gain key skills for monitoring environmental processes and for managing the critical environmental challenges faced by society.
