Ashby Magna: Harry Bevin (b.1908) talks about the process of haymaking on his grandfather's farm at Ashby Magna in Leicestershire and his five uncles who worked on the farm. This interview was carried out in 1986.

Barrow on Soar: Albert Crooks (b.1915) recalls his work farming in Barrow in Leicestershire. He recalls hedge-laying as very satisfying work. He also talks about ditching and the various tools used to carry out this work and describes in detail how he used to do hay-stacking. This interview was recorded in 1986.

Hungarton: Kenneth Barnett (b.1908) describes farming in Hungarton in Leicestershire during World War Two and taking on a number of German Prisoners of War. He also mentions employing Land Girls to help with thrashing work. This interview was recorded in 1986.
