Croft: Albert Swinfen (b.1929) talks about the floods of 1932 which affected the village and how his great-grandmother was rescued by rowing boat from her bedroom window. This interview was recorded in 1986.

Hungarton: Eva Martin (b.1917) recalls Christmas in the village as a child and local gentry buying children presents. This interview was recorded in 1986.

Ibstock: Brenda Clark (b.1913) talks about electricity coming to the village and how she was sad to see the end of street gas lighting. She remembers the village lamp lighter - or leerie - Mr Cooper and the local gas works in Ibstock. This interview was recorded in 1988.

Wymeswold: Ellen Smith (b.1907) remembers how the River Mantle at Wymeswold used to flood nearby houses following heavy rain and how village boys would row boats down the main street.
