Barkby: Jennifer Baines (b.1879) recalls how her family paid a penny to cook their food at the local bakehouse; cooking at home was done on a basic open stove.

Glenfield: Alice Archer (b.1912) talks about the village allotments. This interview was recorded in 1986.

Long Clawson: Jean Morris (b.1933) talks about Stilton cheese being made locally and how production was halted during the Second World War as it was considered a luxury item. She also talks about how the cheese was granted a trademark so that it can only be made in the three countries of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. This interview was recorded in 1988.

Newton Burgoland: memories of a dairy near the village which made Stilton cheese and how the smell of cheese lingered on the skins of the local women who worked there. This interview was recorded in 2001.

Woodhouse Eaves: Daisy Wainwright (b.1906) talks about going crow shooting in Woodhouse Eaves and describes in detail how to prepare crows to make crow pie. This interview was recorded in 1985.
