World War II

Barwell: Mr Lester (b.1906), interviewed here in 1986, gives an account of dealing with landmines that were dropped on farmland at Barwell during the Second World War.

Froleworth: George Ball (b.1906), interviewed here in 1986, talks about farming at Frolesworth during the Second World War, employing Land Girls and Italian and German Prisoners of War.

Lutterworth: Gertrude Moore (b.1901), former hosiery worker, interviewed in 1988, remembers her factory adapting to make munitions for the war effort during World War Two.

Oadby: Primrose Hall (b.1925) recalls her experiences of the blackout during the Second World War. This interview was carried out in 1986.
