Mitigating our Environmental Impact

Using our academic and external resources, we will work to reduce the negative environmental impact of our activities, particularly through external relationships such as carbon offset and investment in carbon capture.

Insetting

Given that many suppliers will also supply other organisations, we are exploring the potential for a collaborative approach.

Offsetting

We are currently developing an Offset Policy, in line with the Oxford Offsetting Principles.

Our approach will be threefold:

1. Support local and sector schemes as part of current commitments to funding bodies
2. Offset our scope 1 and 2 emissions using an internationally recognised and approved scheme
3. Establish offset projects aligned to our academic and community work that will produce measurable environmental gains to offset our scope 3 emissions from 2040.

Renewables

We have committed that the University will be powered 100% by renewables by 2040
