New editor for only journal dedicated to British immigration law
A University of Leicester expert in migrants’ rights and immigration law has been appointed editor of a highly-regarded international journal.
Dr Alan Desmond, lecturer in the Law School at the University of Leicester, has taken charge of the quarterly Journal of Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Law, the only peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the study of British immigration law.
The JIANL, published by Bloomsbury Professional, serves as the official publication of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) and its editorial board is comprised of leading academics and immigration law practitioners.
Dr Desmond’s research interests cover the field of immigration law as it intersects with human rights law, international law, and EU law.
Dr Desmond said: “This is an exciting time to be taking the reins of an immigration law journal. Recent national and international events highlight the need for in-depth, expert analysis of immigration law developments.
“I am looking forward to providing a forum for that analysis from some of the world’s leading scholars and immigration law practitioners, and to building on the sterling work and enviable record of my predecessor, Dr Helena Wray.”
