Exhibition showcasing research and innovation takes to the road
An exhibition showcasing the work of our research community will be touring around the city from 30 May - 1 July.
Organised by the Doctoral College, Images of Research is a unique display of the breadth and quality of research at the University. Known as PhDepictions in previous years, the exhibition aims to give an insight into the wide range of research carried out at the University and the way that this research can make a difference to society. It also provides those who take part with an opportunity to think about their research in a new and visual way.
The images were displayed for the first time at the University’s annual Images of Research competition, which took place in December 2017.
Now members of the public will have the opportunity to engage with the exhibition at locations around Leicester.
Professor Dave Lambert, Director of the Doctoral College, said: “Images can capture the imagination in unique ways; they certainly did for me. It is fantastic to be able to showcase the University’s research through this medium. The entire research community, from postgraduate researchers to principal investigators, is represented here.”
The touring exhibition will showcase fifty images taken by researchers and contextualised with a short description on what inspired that image of their research.
The roadshow will begin on Wednesday 30 May at Attenborough Arts Centre. From there it will move to the Adult Education Centre on Wellington Street, where it will remain from Monday 11 to Thursday 21 June. It will then be taken to the Botanic Gardens for their Open Day on Sunday 1 July.
Much like the University's competition, those who visit the exhibition will have an opportunity to vote for their favourite image.
