Peace project

The year 2021 marked 100 years of education at University of Leicester. Everyone at the University took this moment to pause and reflect on our history and how we were founded as a living war memorial, ‘a palace of peace’, founding ideas that we proudly cherish.

From this, the Peace Project was born – a chance for guests to see University of Leicester’s campus in a new light as you are taken on a tour that uncovers some of our great history as well as key landmarks to peace that remain on display today. Local schools and the local community will explore the themes of peace and remembrance through visiting the University of Leicester’s campus, the Arch of Remembrance and Peace Walk in neighbouring Victoria Park.

For this project, the University of Leicester kindly received funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to the National Lottery players.
