Fee waiver support
As part of the regular recruitment process of our PhD Programmes for the 2026/27 academic year, the University of Leicester School of Business is pleased to offer fee waiver support at both UK and overseas fee levels to full-time, on-campus applicants to our PhD in Economics and PhD in Management. 

For the PhD in Economics, only applications submitted by 30 June 2026 will be considered for a fee waiver for the September 2026 intake, which is the programme’s sole entry period for the 2026/27 academic year.

For the PhD in Management, applications submitted by 30 June 2026 will be considered for a fee waiver for the September 2026 intake. Applications received after this date may be considered for a fee waiver for the January or May 2027 intake.

Our PhD programmes 
Our PhD programmes offer an exciting opportunity to develop research skills and projects under the supervision of globally recognized researchers and leaders in Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing. 

PhD Economics. Our students have the opportunity to undertake research across a broad spectrum of theoretical and applied areas, including: 
macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, game theory, behavioural and experimental economics, industrial economics, labour economics, development economics, international economics, financial economics, monetary policy and banking; public economics, political economy, economic history.

PhD Management. Our students are engaged in research projects encompassing a broad and diverse range of management and business disciplines, including: accounting and finance - corporate governance and reporting, markets, institutions and investors, corporate finance and access to capital; 
marketing and strategy - consumption, markets and society, contemporary entrepreneurship and organisation, crisis and disaster risk management, supply chain and operations management, technology, organisation and people, international business and marketing; management - healthcare Innovation policy and management, sustainable organisations, education and work transitions, equality, diversity and inclusion, non-profit institutions, future of work.

Our research community 

We take pride in our vibrant PGR community and its significant contribution to the research culture and activities of our academic schools and research centres. 

According to their research areas, our PhD students are formally affiliated with one of our academic schools - School of Accounting and Finance; School of Economics; School of Management; School of Marketing and Strategy – and involved in the projects and activities of our research centres - Centre for Healthcare innovation, policy and management; Centre for sustainable organisations; Centre for finance, governance and sustainable growth; Choice research centre. 
 
They actively participate in and contribute to research seminars, workshops, reading groups, conferences, and other formal and informal research activities organized and promoted by our schools, research centres, the PGR Academic Team, and PGR Representatives.
