Student-led AI venture joins University of Leicester service nurturing entrepreneurial talent
A burgeoning student-led business aiming to support transparent and responsible use of AI in higher education has joined the University of Leicester’s Growth Academy.
Final-year Biological Sciences student Rahul Modha and founder of emerging technology venture Wurksy AI will be supported in his entrepreneurial journey by the University’s Entrepreneur in Residence, Dr Glynis Wright MBE, a leading regional business figure and advocate for innovation.
Founded by Modha in 2025, Wurksy AI is a patent pending focused AI compliance platform designed to support transparent and responsible AI use in education. It provides students with a secure, policy-aligned AI environment while generating a structured ‘AI Index’ that logs prompts, responses, and usage patterns. This gives providers a clear audit trail, reduces academic misconduct risk, and supports emerging guidance around AI transparency.
Joining the Growth Academy, overseen by the University’s Careers and Employability Service, marks a significant milestone in the development of Wurksy AI. The service provides support, guidance, expert mentoring, and commercial development for high-potential student and graduate founders. In the next stage of development, Wurksy AI is primarily targeting:
- Digital services and learning technology teams
- Academic and teaching staff such as lecturers and module leads who have the autonomy to run pilots, even on a small scale
- Those actively looking for practical solutions to manage AI use in coursework
Rahul said: “I am thrilled to join the Growth Academy and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work under the guidance of Glynis. Her experience, strategic insight, and supportive approach will be invaluable as Wurksy AI enters its next stage of development plus the Growth Academy at the University provides the perfect environment to grow my venture.”
Dr Glynis Wright MBE, Entrepreneur in Residence, added: “I am delighted to be supporting Rahul as he develops his exciting new venture, Wurksy AI. Rahul is a talented and highly motivated young entrepreneur whose vision demonstrates both innovation and real commercial promise. It is great to see the University of Leicester nurturing emerging entrepreneurial talent and I very much look forward to working with Rahul as he refines his strategy and takes Wurksy AI to the next stage of its growth.”
Tom Ledgard, Head of Careers and Employability at the University of Leicester, added: “The Growth Academy is designed to empower ambitious students like Rahul by providing them with the right expertise, support, and opportunities. We are delighted to welcome him into the programme and excited to see how Wurksy AI develops with the invaluable mentoring from Glynis.”
