Dr Simon Bennett.

An expert in risk management from the University of Leicester has published an updated edition of his book which examines the challenges facing global aviation.

First published in 2015, the second edition of Dr Simon Bennett’s Aviation Safety and Security: The Importance of Teamwork, Leadership, Creative Thinking and Active Learning has been thoroughly revised and updated, with new case studies and pertinent observations on the prospects for aviation in today’s turbulent world.

The second edition pays more attention to linkages between political action (or inaction) and safety and security, from the United States Department of Government Efficiency’s efforts to pare down Federal Aviation Administration staffing levels, to the attempted shoot-down of Azerbaijan Airlines Flight J2-8243 near Grozny during the Russia-Ukraine war.

Essential reading for aviation professionals, academics and students, the monograph uses sociological approaches to risk management to explain how aviation safety can be improved and the future of a vital industry secured.
