Leicester welcomes Henan University delegation for discussions on future partnership plans

The University of Leicester has strengthened its links with Henan University after welcoming a senior delegation from the Chinese institution.

The visit, which took place from on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 July, was part of the institutions’ plans to investigate transnational education initiatives and research collaborations.

The Executive Dean and Assistant Dean of Henan’s Advanced Institute of Finance, Professor Chuntao Li and Professor Gang Wei, met colleagues from the University of Leicester School of Business, the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, the International Recruitment Team, the Global Partnerships Team and the Centre for International Training and Education (CITE).

The visit marks the latest milestone in a growing strategic relationship between the two institutions. In June, a University of Leicester delegation led by Dr Abdul Jabbar visited Henan University to explore opportunities for collaboration. This was followed by a meeting in China, in June, between Leicester’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Nishan Canagarajah and Professor Bo Ji, Party Secretary of Henan University, where both sides agreed to develop discussions around transnational education and research partnerships.

This week’s visit concluded with both institutions agreeing to continue exploring opportunities for future academic, research and educational cooperation.

During my visit to the University of Leicester, I was also treated with exceptional warmth and hospitality. It was truly a very pleasant and rewarding visit."
