Leicester’s space expertise to be showcased on international stage

Leading global players in the aerospace industry will have the chance to learn about Leicester’s impact on the space community at a major international conference.

Experts from Space Park Leicester and the University of Leicester have been invited to join the Invest in UK University R&D Midlands Campaign and the Midlands Aerospace stand at this year’s Paris International Airshow

Known as the prime meeting place for the global aerospace industry, the international airshow is expected to attract around 300,000 visitors.

Space Park Leicester Head of Strategic Communications and Marketing, Alex Wheldon, said: “We’ll work alongside Midlands universities at the airshow to champion our region’s research excellence and industrial strengths and will invite global partners to shape the future of space exploration and space innovation with us.

“We’ll be seeking to forge new partnerships, establish research collaborations, and highlight our executive education programmes that are addressing critical space skills needs.

“We can’t wait to showcase the incredible opportunities we have for innovation-driven organisations at Space Park Leicester to space, aerospace and defence businesses on the international stage.”

Joining Alex at the show will be Dr Yuan Gao and Dr Bing Ji from the University of Leicester’s School of Engineering. Dr Ji will showcase several aviation electronics demonstrators developed in Leicester for e-mobility, including award-winning innovations in power electronics.

The Paris International Airshow is organised by SIAE, a subsidiary of the French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS) to showcase the latest innovations and offer strategic networking opportunities.

It will take place from Monday, June 16, to Sunday, June 22.
