EarthSense enterprise receives Royal recognition
A specialist air quality enterprise borne out of University of Leicester expertise has been recognised with a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
EarthSense, which can trace its roots back to research first undertaken at the University in 2002, began trading as a joint venture in 2016 and delivers products that enable the world to visualise and manage its air quality issues.
The company is one of 205 UK businesses recognised by Her Majesty The Queen as among the best in the country for its substantial organic company growth and market-leading innovations, which offer customers new tools to solve complex air quality challenges.
The award offers EarthSense global recognition as an outstanding British brand.
Professor Nishan Canagarajah, President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Leicester, said: “On behalf of the University of Leicester, I’d like to extend my congratulations to the EarthSense team on this fantastic achievement.
“The University is proud to act as a launching pad for enterprises through projects such as Space Park Leicester, with our cutting-edge research offering solutions to real-world problems.
“It is especially pleasing to see this recognition for one of our partners so keenly involved in sustaining our world so soon after being recognised for our global impact in this area.”
Tom Hall, EarthSense Managing Director, added: “Our early research into air pollution first started at the University of Leicester in 2002 and following 15 years of extensive research, EarthSense was founded as an air quality service provider in 2016. Since then, we’ve experienced strong company growth by working closely with our customers, developing our services, launching air quality projects and establishing notable partnerships with businesses from all around the world.
“As a small and relatively new business, receiving the award for Innovation from the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise marks EarthSense as a growing company with cutting edge air quality technology. We’re proud to say that our reputation as an innovative air quality service provider has been supported with the royal seal of approval, and we look forward to further growth and success as we tackle this critical global challenge with our customers worldwide.”
EarthSense offers a novel solution to air quality challenges across the world. The Zephyr® air quality monitor, MappAir® model and MyAir® web app enable businesses to gain a holistic understanding of air pollution, sources, trends and patterns.
These services have supported projects with local authorities such as Shropshire Council to deliver air pollution maps for the public and to establish a notable partnership with Siemens Mobility with a focus on intelligent transport. EarthSense’s innovation continues to provide valuable insights for companies globally.
