Competitions: Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions relate to the Freshers Fair Book Recommendation competition taking place in September 2026

• The promoter is: David Wilson Library, University of Leicester whose registered office is at University of Leicester, University Road, Leicester, LE1 7RH
• Five students will each win a £20 National Book Tokens gift card, which they will need to collect from the David Wilson Library on an arranged date
• A member of staff from the Information Hub will email you to confirm if you have won. You must supply a University of Leicester student email address.
• Entrants must be a current University of Leicester student.
• There are no entry fees and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
• Start date and closing date for each competition is detailed below. After these dates no further entries to the competitions will be permitted.

• No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
• The rules of the competition:

• The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.
• No cash alternative to the prizes will be offered. The prize is not transferable. The competition prize is subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
• The winners will be chosen by a random number generator of all eligible answers.
• Offensive or Inappropriate Entries: The organisers reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to reject and disqualify any entry that contains content which is offensive, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, obscene, unlawful, or otherwise inappropriate. Any such entry will be deemed invalid and excluded from the competition. The organisers' decision regarding the eligibility and acceptability of entries is final.[EP2.1]The winners will be emailed via their student University of Leicester email address. If a winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 24 hours of notification (Winners will be drawn Monday 28th September 2026), we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
• The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
• By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating their agreement to be contacted for a quote and photograph.
• By entering this competition, the entrant is confirming they will collect their prize from the David Wilson Library.
• The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
• The winner agrees to the use of their name and image, and any entries submitted, in any publicity material. Any personal data relating to the winner, or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
• Entry into the competition will be deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
