Children in the Library policy

Children may be brought into the Library on the understanding that an accompanying adult will be responsible for them at all times. Please remember you should bear in mind that, in general, University premises were designed with the needs of the adult population in mind.

Children must always remain in the immediate vicinity of their accompanying adult.

Children are not allowed on the stairs unaccompanied. Extra care must be taken on staircases as they can be dangerous areas.

The Library is a quiet environment with designated silent zones, and other library users must not be disturbed by unacceptable behaviour.

Children behaving in an unsafe manner maybe excluded from the Library building.

Please speak to a member of staff on arrival so the child can be let in with you.
