Employment Law LLM, PGDip
2 years, by distance learning, part-time
This is for you if... you want to develop your professional knowledge and skills in the practice of employment law and the management of employment relationships.
In addition to your online teaching materials, you will have the opportunity to attend teaching weekends held at the University which take place at the beginning and end of each module (approximately every four to five months).
You are strongly advised to attend these, as they form an integral part of the course. They provide an opportunity to immerse yourself in the course materials through lectures, workshops and discussion groups, and to seek individual guidance on your coursework or assignments. They also give you the chance to meet fellow students and to form networking groups for self-help and informal support.
Effective student support is the key to successful distance learning. Students can contact staff by telephone, Skype or email, but they also benefit from face-to-face tuition and from working with their fellow students in the teaching weekend environment. Online teaching is available through webinars, online tutorials, workshops and discussion forums. The University Library's Distance Learning Service provides a range of services to support distance learners, including full access to legal databases, electronic books and academic articles.
Continuing professional development
The course is recognised by the Bar Council for CPD, and may contribute to Continuing Competence for Solicitors.
