Hatton Centre for Education (Secondary)

Sir Christopher Hatton Academy is delighted to be the lead school for the Hatton Centre for Education, in partnership with the University of Leicester. We are based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire and offer placements in a range a local secondary schools.

Our school-based training course allows you to feel part of a school community from day one of your training; you will have a school-based tutor who puts together a training programme covering general teaching skills (such as working with parents and behaviour management), as well as an in-school subject-based mentor. The academic elements of the course are delivered by the experienced lecturers at the University of Leicester.

The combination of in-school and academic training allows you to gain both the vocational and academic skills needed for you to have the best possible start to your teaching career. Successful completion of the course leads to a PGCE and 60 credits at Masters level (awarded by the University of Leicester), and Qualified Teacher Status (awarded by the NCTL).

Our partnership schools offering a placement(s) include:

  • Prince William School
  • Wrenn School
  • Weavers Academy
  • Manor School
  • Montsaye Academy
  • Kingsthorpe College

Your placement will be allocated subject to availability within the partnership.
