Highlights for Computing and Mathematical Sciences research in REF2021
Computer Sciences
We are delighted with our recent performance in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF2021), in which 94% of our research outputs are judged as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ (according to analysis by the Times Higher Education).
In addition:
- 83% of our overall research in Computer Sciences was judged to be ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’
- 75% of the real-world impact of our research in Computer Sciences was judged to be ‘outstanding’ (4*) or ‘very considerable’ (3*)
Mathematical Sciences
We are delighted with our recent performance in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF2021), in which 93% of our research outputs are ‘world-leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ (according to analysis by the Times Higher Education).
In addition:
- We ranked in the top 30 for overall research quality (GPA)
- 90% of the quality of our overall research in Mathematical Sciences was judged to be ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’
- 100% of our research environment was judged to be ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’
