I am interested in outdoor airborne fungal spore exposure and the role this plays in the exacerbation of asthma. My PhD will form a molecular epidemiological investigation towards this area through the combined use of high throughput sequencing (HTS) technologies and health data from Public Health England’s real-time syndromic surveillance system.

I was previously a Healthcare Scientist within the NHS, working on various research projects including the development of pyrosequencing to detect azole antifungal resistance mutations in patient samples containing Aspergillus fumigatus. I was awarded a Distinction for a MSc degree in Medical Virology and wrote the winning essay for Public Health England’s 2020 Public Engagement Essay competition.
