American Studies at Leicester

Postgraduate programmes

Leicester offers a number of Masters courses that contain American Studies content. Most are run wholly (or in part) by English, History, Politics and International Relations, and History of Art and Film

Postgraduate scholarships are available for Masters students. The Masters Excellence Scholarships are available to new UK/EU applicants registering for a full- or part-time, campus-based Masters degree.

English Literature MA
1-2 years, full- or part-time
This is for you if... you wish to delve deeper into specific areas of English literary studies, with the option of an extended dissertation to hone your research skills.

Modern Literature (and optional Creative Writing) MA, PGDip, PGCert
1-2 years, full- or part-time
This is for you if... you are fascinated by 20th century and contemporary literature and themes and issues in modern literature and would like the option of specialising in Creative Writing.

History MA
1-2 years, full- or part-time
This is for you if... you want to expand the depth of your historical knowledge and develop advanced skills in historical research.

History MRes
1-2 years, full- or part-time
This is for you if... you want to develop advanced skills in historical research methods and apply these to an extended piece of independent research.

International Relations and World Order MA, PGDip
1-2 years, full- or part-time
This is for you if... you want to increase your knowledge and understanding of international relations focusing on developments since the end of the Cold War.

Film and Film Cultures MA
1-2 years, full- or part-time
This is for you if... you want to delve deeper into the relationship between film, culture and society while acquiring advanced research skills.
