Leicester City Football Club Scholarship
To mark the University’s longstanding partnership with Leicester City Football Club and their owners, King Power, we are delighted to offer the Leicester City Football Club Scholarship, which will support five students from Leicester who have faced barriers to pursuing higher education. Highlighting our shared commitment to widen local access to higher education, five students will be awarded bursaries of £5,000 each year of their studies for up to three years.
What's on offer?
We’re offering 5 x £5,000 scholarship (paid to you via your student loan account in February of each year) for up to three years of study. What do I need to do?
To be considered, please respond to the following question, in 200 words or fewer:
‘In what ways have you demonstrated being a Citizen of Change in Leicester either in your community, school or wider world?'
Who is eligible?
Any UK student, who resides in an LE postcode and who holds an offer to study with us on a full-time campus-based undergraduate course starting in September 2026 including foundation years. You must be a first-time HE applicant (i.e. Not already a degree holder). Applicants must be either from IMD Q1 or IMD Q2, with Quintile 1 being prioritised.
Successful applicants will need to have made Leicester their firm choice, by their UCAS reply deadline, and meet the conditions of their offer.
*To ensure consistency and sector alignment, we have adopted UCAS’s approach of using the 2019 IMD data.
How will my submission be assessed?
Our panel will use the following criteria to score the submissions.
Understanding
Does the submission demonstrate an understanding of what it is to be a Citizen of Change in Leicester in the context of the University’s values?
Vision
Does the submission show a clear thought process, that highlights how the values helped them affect change in their community?
Communication
Does the submission meet the word limit of 200 words? Is the submission clear and does it convey how the applicant has demonstrated the values of a Citizen of Change specific to Leicester?
