Undergraduates

Making your application

All applications for undergraduate courses will need to be made via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). If you're interested in postgraduate study, visit our postgraduate pages.

There is some key information you’ll need to apply to the University of Leicester. This includes our institution name: LEICR and institution code: L34. You will also need to add a course code; this will depend on what course(s) you apply for. Take a look at our full list of undergraduate courses to find out which code you need to use. Or, do a quick search in our course search below.

UCAS Extra

Not holding any offers and want to join us in September 2024? Extra is another chance for you to gain a place at university or college, between 28 February and 4 July 2024. If you used all five of your choices on your original application, have received decisions from all five, and weren’t accepted, or if you declined the offers you received, you will be able to use Extra.

Three types of applicants

Students at a school or college registered with UCAS

All UK schools and colleges (and a small number of establishments overseas) are registered with UCAS to manage their students’ applications. Advice is available from your teacher or a careers adviser at your school or college. You will fill in an online application and submit it to a member of staff at your school or college. After checking your details and adding the academic reference, your school will submit the completed application online to UCAS. You can pay your UCAS application fee online using a credit card or debit card. You may also be able to pay through your school or college.

If you're applying for Medicine, you will apply through UCAS as normal but the interview process is different.

Independent applicants in the UK

Other UK applicants, who are not at school or college, apply online independently. It is likely that you are a mature applicant who, unlike school and college students, cannot readily seek advice from your teacher but can instead consult with various careers organisations. You are responsible for paying the correct UCAS application fee, for obtaining and attaching the academic reference and for submitting the completed application online to UCAS.

International applicants outside the UK (EU and worldwide)

If you live outside the UK and your school or college is not registered with UCAS, you will apply online independently. Advice is available from British Council offices in your country and other centres overseas, such as your school or college. You are responsible for paying the correct UCAS application fee, for obtaining and attaching the academic reference and for submitting the completed application online to UCAS.
