Post-16 University Experience Days
A fantastic opportunity for Year 12 students to visit the University of Leicester and explore what studying at university is really like! At each event, there will be opportunities to tour our campus, speak to current students and get involved with hands-on, interactive activities.
Most of our university experience days will run from 9.45am to 2.30pm and are completely free to attend. We are inviting expressions of interest from both school groups and individuals and will confirm places within eight weeks of an event to allow ample time to plan your visit to us.
Upcoming subject-specific events
We are pleased to launch our range of Post-16 Subject Specific University Experience Days:
Wednesday 4 November 2026 – AWSAM (Ancient World & Classics)
Looking at topics from the KS5 Classical Civilization curriculum and sessions on Classics-related skills and employability, delivered by academic staff and commercial archaeologists from the University’s School of Heritage and Culture (SHAC), AWSAM is back for its 3rd year.
In addition to two subject sessions designed to support the Classical Civilisation A-Level syllabus, every group will take part in a hands-on employability workshop run by ULAS (University of Leicester Archaeological Services), trying the different techniques used by professional Archaeologists and Historians working on Roman sites.
Saturday 21 November AND Saturday 5 December 2026 – Junior Emergency Medicine
This free two-day, hands-on event is designed for students in year 12 who are thinking about a career in medicine or healthcare and want to come and experience real life simulations working alongside current doctors, nurses and undergraduate students.
Thursday 15 April 2027 – Medicine & Healthcare
A chance for students interested in our Medicine & healthcare courses to come and get a taste of life as a University of Leicester student. From hands on workshops, to all important information on applying to medicine, students can choose 3 different sessions to take part in.
Tuesday 20 April 2027 – Psychopathy (Law & Criminology)
Ever wondered what goes on in the mind of a psychopath? Come along to this highly engaging event to find out more!
Student Life University Experience Days
For those looking for a more generic visit to campus for larger cohorts of students, we are also pleased to offer our Student Life University Experience Days. These will run in a similar format to our other events but with no subject specific content. Please note: these events are only bookable for school groups.
