Living in University accommodation is about much more than the four walls you sleep in: it’s an experience that you won’t want to miss. It’s the perfect way to find your feet and meet new people when you arrive in Leicester. Everyone is in the same boat and excited to start this new stage in their lives and make new friends. You’ll form relationships that will last for the rest of your life.

Our accommodation is separate from the campus so you can switch off from uni work when you head back to halls. But don’t worry – if you’ve still got some work to do we have excellent social study space in Oadby.

Residence Life

Our Residence Life programme is what makes living in university halls different from living in a shared house or private accommodation – we promote a sense of community. While you’re in halls we’ve got you covered, with a huge range of support and activities. Between our halls reception staff, Residential Advisers and our porters, there will always be someone on hand, should you need them.
Throughout the year, our Residence Life team will organise a wide variety of activities designed to help you meet like-minded people, as well as to try something different and perhaps find a new hobby.

Study Space

We have study space to cater for all learning styles – whether you prefer quiet for some solitary reading, or somewhere to get together with a group of course-mates to work on a project.

  • Relax on easy chairs for some group study.
  • Make use of our IT suite for some coursework.
  • Get some serious study done in our one of our quiet study areas.

Social space

Living in halls is about being part of a community which extends far beyond your corridor or block. We have spaces where you can get together and socialise with people from across halls.

From playing pool and watching films in the cinema room, to rehearsing in the music rooms and relaxing on the sofas, there’s a place for you and your new friends.

Catering package

Dining in halls is a sociable experience – some nights you’ll round up all your neighbours and head down to the dining hall together and sometimes you might wander down and meet up with friends. Our new flexible meal plan offers you more freedom than ever before – you can choose where and when you eat, either in Oadby or on main campus. Some of our accommodation comes with the meal plan as standard, but even if you’re in a self-catered room, you can choose to add on the catering package, rather than cooking for yourself. Our menus are designed by our multi-award-winning Executive Head Chef so whatever your tastes, you’re sure to enjoy our food!

Gym on your doorstep

After a long day on campus you’ll want your gym to be close at hand. Both the Oadby Student Village and City Living have a University gym just a stone’s throw away so whether you’re training for your new sports club or varsity, or you just want to keep fit, you’ll always have a gym close by.

We look out for you throughout your time in halls. We have security patrols on site every night to make sure that the area is safe. Our team is on hand 24/7 to respond to any incidents which do occur.

We look forward to welcoming you to life in halls at the University of Leicester.
