The School of Business is proud of its numerous accreditations and membership of professional bodies.
General accreditations
AMBA accredited
The Association of MBAs is the global standard for all MBA, DBA and master's degrees programmes and currently accredits programmes from the top 2% of business schools in over 70 countries.
The Leicester MBA was one of the first distance learning MBAs to achieve AMBA accreditation and has held accreditation for 25 years. In addition our MSc Management and MSc International Management are AMBA-accredited.
AACSB member
The University of Leicester School of Business is a member of The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
As the world's largest business education alliance AACSB connects educators, students, and business to achieve a common goal: to create the next generation of great leaders. Synonymous with the highest standards of excellent since 1916, AACSB provides quality assurance, business education, intelligence, and professional development services to over 1,500 member organisations and more than 785 accredited business schools worldwide.
EFMD member
The University of Leicester School of Business is a member of The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
EFMD is one of the key business schools networks in the world and being part of the network brings many opportunities for faculty and student exchanges, knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Chartered Association of Business Schools member
The University of Leicester School of Business is a member of the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS).
CABS is the representative body for all leading business schools in the UK. They offer professional development to staff in business schools, provide invaluable networking within the business school community and represent UK business schools to business and government.
Their members consist of 120 business schools and higher education providers, as well as affiliate stakeholders, corporate members and international partners.
PRME member
We are a proud signatory of the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education, launched in 2007.
This initiative is the largest organised relationship between the United Nations and business schools with its mission being to transform management education, research and thought leadership globally.
Small Business Charter award holder
The University of Leicester School of Business holds a prestigious Small Business Charter Award for our role in helping to kick start British enterprise.
Programme accreditations
ACCA accredited
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the global body for accountants.
Our BSc Economics and Accounting, BSc Accounting and Finance and BSc Accounting programmes are ACCA accredited. Students on these programmes are eligible for exemptions from professional examinations.
CFA programme partner
The Chartered Financial Analysis Institute is a global association of investment professionals that sets the standard for excellence in the industry.
We are a CFA Programme Partner and both our campus-based MSc Finance and distance learning MSc Finance cover over 70% of the CFA Candidate Body of Knowledge for Level 1 and 2 examinations. We are proud to be the owner of the first flexible/distance learning programme under CFA Institute's University Affiliation Programme's new 2020 flexible learning policy.
In addition we participate in the Investment Foundations Academic Programme which covers the essentials of finance, ethics and investment roles, providing a clear understanding of the global investment industry. A number of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes cover the syllabus of the Foundations Certificate examination.
CIM accredited
The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) strives for business leaders and opinion formers to recognise the positive contribution professional marketing can bring to their organisations, the economy and wider society. CIM support, develop and represent marketers, organisations and the profession all over the world.
We have joined forces with CIM to give students on our campus-based BA Marketing and MSc Marketing and our flexible learning MBA (Marketing) programmes the opportunity to gain professional qualifications through the CIM through module exemptions.
CIMA accredited
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is the world's largest professional body of management accountants.
A number of our programmes are CIMA accredited: BSc Accounting; BSc Accounting and Finance; BSc Economics; BSc Economics and Accounting; BSc Business Economics; BSc Financial Economics and Banking; BSc Economics and Econometrics; BSc Financial Economics and Econometrics; MSc Accounting and Finance and our Leicester MBA. Students on these programmes are eligible for exemptions from professional examinations.
CIPD approved centre
The School of Business is a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Accredited Programme Provider.
Our BA Human Resource Management and our campus-based MSc Human Resource Management and Training are accredited programmes and offer graduates the opportunity to become a CIPD Associate Member.
CMI accredited
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence. It is the only organisation awarding Chartered Manager status, the hallmark of any professional manager, and encompasses a membership community.
The Leicester MBA offers a dual award from CMI where, upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded CMI's Level 7 Certificate or Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice (subject to moderation) along with Foundation Chartered Manager status. In addition our MSc Management and MSc International Management students can be dual awarded with a Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice (subject to moderation).
ICAEW recognised partner
Established by royal charter in 1880, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has over 147,000 members.
The School of Business is a recognised partner of ICAEW. Students on our BSc Economics and Accounting, BSc Accounting and Finance and BSc Accounting programmes are eligible from exemptions from professional examinations.
ICAS accredited
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) is a global professional body for Chartered Accountants.
We hold exemption accreditation with ICAS on our three undergraduate accounting programmes: BSc Accounting; BSc Accounting and Finance; and BSc Economics and Accounting.
ILM dual accreditation
ILM are the UK's leading leadership and management awarding organisation and are part of the globally recognised City & Guilds Group.
The School of Business offers dual accreditation with ILM and students on our BA Business and Management, BA Marketing and BA Human Resource Management degrees will also be awarded ILM's Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management (subject to passing the relevant modules).
IRM accredited
The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) is the leading professional body for Enterprise Risk Management, founded in 1986 as an awarding organisation to meeting demand for a diploma-level qualification in risk management.
Our flexible, distance learning MSc Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management offers exemption from all six modules of IRM's International Diploma in Risk Management. Graduates of our programme can also apply for GradIRM membership.
