Literary Leicester event management

The Literary Leicester Festival is hosted by the School of Arts, which is part of the University of Leicester. The University of Leicester is the Data Controller for your information.

This privacy notice explains how we use your personal information and your rights regarding that information.

What information are you collecting?

  • Name
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Email address

We may collect certain special category (sensitive) data with your explicit consent in relation to

  • Accessibility requirements
  • Ethnicity

Why are you collecting my data?

  • For the management and administration of our events.
  • To contact you if you have opted in to receive marketing information from us.
  • For age and ethnicity equalities monitoring. 

How will you use this data?

We use this data to manage and administer our events and to market to you if you have opted in to receive our mailings. 

We will use anonymised data to evaluate the extent to which the festival is reaching its target demographics, and to provide reports our funders.

What is the legal basis for processing the data?

We will process your personal data with your consent, as defined under UK GDPR Article 6.1(a).

Where we are using any special category information you have provided, this will be with your explicit consent which is set out in the UK GDPR Article 9.2 (a).

If you are sharing my data with others, who are you sharing it with?

We may share your data with third party organisers helping us to arrange the festival programme:

For the purposes of evaluation, aggregated and anonymous data will be shared with our funder.

How long will you process my data for?

We will keep email correspondence and booking records for 1 year after the event.

If you have opted in to our mailing list, we will keep your name and email in our database until you tell us otherwise.
