Attenborough Arts Centre today announces a new partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies to join the worldwide Bloomberg Connects programme.
Bloomberg Connects is a free digital guide to hundreds of cultural organisations around the world that makes it easy to access and engage with arts and culture from mobile devices, anytime, anywhere.
Bloomberg Connects is part of Bloomberg Philanthropies’ longstanding commitment to supporting digital innovation in the arts. Bloomberg Connects makes it easy to access and engage with arts and culture from mobile devices when visiting in person, or anytime from anywhere.
With dynamic content exclusive to each partner organisation, it provides a range of features including video, audio, and text, expert commentary and way-finding maps.
Attenborough Arts Centre has developed its own visitor guide on the platform which provides information for audiences to about the organisation’s exhibitions and wider programmes. This includes sections for audiences to plan their visit, accessibility information and details about current and past events as well as opportunities to get involved in the organisation’s wider activities.
Bloomberg Connects itself offers a range of accessibility features with screen reading, font size options, video captioning, and translation into over 50 languages including BSL at visitors’ fingertips. This underlines Attenborough Arts Centre’s ongoing mission of ‘Art for All’ and commitment to make its programmes accessible to everyone.
Andrew Fletcher, Director of Attenborough Arts Centre, said: "We are proud to join Bloomberg Connects which is a transformational opportunity for Attenborough Arts Centre. Our new partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies will expand our reach worldwide, bringing our work to the attention of new audiences among a prestigious global network of major cultural organisations."
At the University of Leicester, this latest development builds on the Institute for Digital Culture’s partnership with Art UK and Collections Trust to deliver the Museums Data Service, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Bloomberg Philanthropies. These significant initiatives put the University at the forefront of digital culture research and innovation, underlining the institution’s commitment to future-facing Arts, Culture and Heritage programmes.
