Crocus Sundays at the Botanic Garden
On 23 February and 1 March the public are invited to visit our Botanic Garden in Oadby for the annual ‘Crocus Sundays’ display of spring flowers.
At this time of year the Botanic Garden, one of Leicester’s hidden gems, presents a magnificent spectacle. The Crocus Sundays are organised by the Friends of the Botanic Garden; entry is free but voluntary charity donations are welcomed, with thousands of pounds raised over previous years for local good causes.
This year the charity is Lamp who provide help and assistance to mental health sufferers across Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Botanic Garden is on the A6, near Leicester Race Course. Entrance is via Glebe Road (satnav: LE2 2LD). It will be open from 10.00am to 4.00pm each Sunday. Refreshments will be available in the historic Knoll House which was once the home of Mr E. Fox of Fox’s Glacier Mints.
Richard Gornall, Director of the Botanic Garden, commented: “This is a wonderful display that far too few people get to see. It’s a bright spot in an otherwise quiet time in the gardening calendar.”
