Seventeen novels in seventeen years Leicester alumna Adele Parks to share her journey to the bestsellers list

Leicester alumna and author of seventeen bestselling novels Adele Parks will be speaking at Literary Leicester on Wednesday 15 November.

After graduating from our University in 1990, where she studied English Language and Literature, Adele published her first novel, Playing Away, in 2000 - when the Evening Standard immediately identified her as one of London’s ‘Twenty Faces to Watch’.

Adele has since sold over three million copies of her fiction in the UK, and her works have been translated into 26 different languages. She also writes numerous articles and short stories for national magazines and newspapers, and often appears on radio and TV to talk about her writing and related matters. Her novels often focus on the complexities of interpersonal relationships, scrutinising fixed assumptions about love, parenting, fidelity and friendships.

Professor Martin Stannard, the festival’s Director, said: “It is an enormous pleasure to welcome Adele back as one of our most distinguished graduates. She has an astonishing publication record. For anyone interested in creative writing as a career, this talk is a must. Book early. She has a lot of fans!”
