A leading lawyer has been appointed as Honorary Professor of Law at Leicester.
David Hodson, Partner and co-founder of The International Family Law Group LLP has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor in Law at the University. David was a student at Leicester (1972-75), graduating with a LLB.
David is an English solicitor, mediator, arbitrator, Australian solicitor and part-time family court judge in London. In 2014 he was granted the OBE for ‘services to international family law’.
David will continue giving his annual lecture to the students at Leicester and contributing to the development of the legal education at the Law School.
David Hodson commenting on his appointment said: “I am thrilled to receive this accolade. I had the most marvellous three years as a student at Leicester and it really set me up for both my future life and my career as a lawyer. In recent years I have enjoyed the opportunity to give back to my university and to help the students, some of whom will become the lawyers of the future. They will be working in very different circumstances to my earlier years in the profession but the essential skills, qualities and attributes remain the same.”
Associate Professor Dr Eugenia Caracciolo Di Torella, convener of family law at the University of Leicester, said: “I am delighted that David’s contribution to the Leicester Law School and to the family law course has been acknowledged and celebrated. The course is enriched by David’s practical perspective and knowledge. Our students are very lucky to have such an amazing opportunity! I am looking forward to welcoming David in his new role.”
