Film screening and QA with Leverhulme Artist in Residence for International Womens Day

As part of International Women’s Day at our University, Kajal Nisha Patel, Leverhulme Artist in Residence (2016), will be in conversation with Dr Melanie Kennedy from the University’s School of Media, Communication and Sociology.

Visual artist Kajal will be talking about her film work Four Women, Five Stories which presents ‘an intimate view of British South Asian women’s lives’. The work led to further commissioned projects relating to protest and activism. Kajal will consider how art, craft, digital activism and storytelling can be used to foster critical discussion and social change.

The screening and discussion is free to attend and will take place in Ken Edwards Lecture Theatre 2 at the University of Leicester on Tuesday 7 March at 6.15pm. For further information, please contact Angelica De Vido at adv4@le.ac.uk

Kajal’s Liberation exhibit which was created during her Leverhulme Residency at the University is currently on display at the Peepul Centre in Leicester. In conjunction with the exhibit a Sew Off! event to mark International Women’s Day 2017 is taking place and everyone is welcome to join in the collaborative creative workshop.
