Award-winning University alumnus publishes first novel

University of Leicester alumnus, Anietie Isong graduated in 2005 with an MA in Globalisation and Communications, and has recently published his first novel, Radio Sunrise.

Anietie started his career as a journalist with Radio Nigeria, in Lagos, and was also appointed as PR Manager between 2006 – 2009, for the Students’ Union.

His short stories have been published in journals and broadcast on the BBC and Radio Nigeria, and he has won several writing prizes including the Commonwealth Short Story Award.

Radio Sunrise explores Nigerian journalism telling the story of Ifiok, a young journalist working for the government radio station in Lagos. When Ifiok travels to his hometown to make a documentary about a band of ex-militants, he is forced to confront the truth about the future of his beloved country and his existence within it.
