Tigers talents to train University rugby club

Two Leicester Tigers players will coach our Men’s Rugby Union club team during the 2016/17 season.

Team Leicester is now looking to extend their unbeaten Varsity record to five years after appointing Lachlan McCaffrey and Matt Smith as coaches for the forthcoming season.

Centre Matt Smith, who graduated from the Tigers Academy and made his Tigers debut in 2006, said: “It is a great privilege to be involved and become part of the University of Leicester's rugby team. I look forward to meeting all the players and staff this season and am excited about passing on some knowledge and experience to the players!”

Students can join the Club by purchasing a silver or gold gym membership and a Rugby Union Club membership by visiting the Danielle Brown Sports Centre on campus or Roger Bettles Sports Centre in Oadby, or online from 1 September via the website.

Staff, associate, alumni and members of the public can also join if they have a gold gym membership and also pay the Club fee. However, staff aren’t eligible to play in competitive matches or Varsity because of BUCS league rules.
