County charity launches fund-raising yo-yo challenge

Charity Hope Against Cancer, which works in partnership with our University and Leicester's Hospitals, is hoping to raise money for cancer research as part of its Bold & Blue event - by holding a sponsored yo-yo competition.

Last year the challenge saw many businesses sign up, and this year it is hoped that even more people will get involved to help raise funds for the charity.

Hope Against Cancer is Leicestershire and Rutland’s local cancer research charity, funding cutting-edge research and helping to make clinical trials available to local people.

As part of the campaign local companies, clubs, pubs, restaurants, schools and individuals can request a welcome pack containing sponsorship forms, posters and details.

Participants will be encouraged to collect sponsorship based on how many times they can keep a yo-yo spinning non-stop.

Winners of local competitions will be put forward to compete in a final to be held in Uppingham on Friday 9 September to win a prize and a trophy.

All funds raised will go towards the charity's important work of researching cancer and possible treatments.

The Bold and Blue awareness week takes place from 3 - 9 September.
